SUMMARY:

Meena Hira M.C.P. is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with the BCACC. Meena has 10 years of experience working with diverse populations in various social service and mental health sectors such as: Youth and Adult Residential Care, Child Protection, Mental Health Advocacy, and Family Preservation Services. Meena is a third-generation settler in Canada and a woman of color, she understands the struggles of juggling multiple cultural identities and oppressive societal structures. Meena has a passion for supporting clients with building a deeper understanding of their struggles and reaching their personal goals. Meena honors diverse perspectives and experiences and understands how difficult it can be to share the most vulnerable parts of ourselves. Meena provides clients with a warm and supportive environment to collaboratively work towards their healing.

THERAPEUTIC APPROACH:
Meena’s collaborative and trauma-informed style of counselling is influenced by an anti-oppressive and multiculturally lens. Meena draws her practice from a variety of approaches including, Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), Somatic therapy, Mindfulness based therapy, Person-Centered therapy, and Depth Oriented therapy. Meena’s couples therapy is informed by Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT) and Gottman Couples Therapy for understanding your partners, building strong communication skills, and cultivating healthy relationship patterns. Meena offers counselling to youth (age 9-18), adults, and couples.
