Who We Are

At Clearheart Counselling, we’re passionate about innovating relationship solutions that work – supporting you to get your life, and love, back on track. Whether it’s communication skills and tools, or identifying and resolving deeper issues blocking your wellbeing, our team of committed professionals can help.

Our team has been selected for each individual’s depth of professional experience, and specialized training in areas of relationship focused, anxiety or mood related issues, and trauma therapies.

Issues that surface in our intimate relationships often have complexity, requiring a multi-skilled approach to locate root causes rather than merely fix short-term symptoms.

Therapeutic Approach

Listening to each individual as they present their unique combination of personality, family and life experience, allows me to determine the best approach for unraveling an issue. I am trained in several psychotherapeutic models (e.g. Cognitive Behavioural, Dialectical, Emotionally Focused, EMDR, Gestalt, Mindfulness, Somatic); all of which inform my approach in session, depending upon the issues. Releasing longstanding subconscious blocks to personal and relationship happiness, via deeper models of EMDR therapy, is my primary clinical focus.

Melissa Jordache MC

Melissa Jordache is a Registered Clinical Counsellor with BCACC. With experience in diverse professional settings, Melissa is passionate about assisting individuals in working toward the development of healthy relationships in every realm of their life—love, friendships, family, professional, and most importantly, with themselves. Addressing deep rooted self-narratives that hold individuals back is at the core of her practice.

I believe that relationships are one of the most, if not, the most important resource that we have available in our lifetime. If our relationships suffer— we suffer.

Therapeutic Approach

Melissa works collaboratively with clients to uncover deep issues that may be preventing them from living the life they desire. She integrates a myriad of approaches into her work with clients, and adapts based on presenting concerns of the individual. Approaches used include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Attachment Theory. Additionally, she works from a whole-person approach by incorporating all aspects of the individuals context into the therapeutic relationship. When appropriate I provide psycho-educational information on mental health and its effect on relationships with self and others.

Melissa is genuinely committed to assisting her clients in developing a compassionate view toward the self, and to assist them in challenging any negative self-narratives they have developed. Further, she believes in building a strong relationship between the mind and the body. She is passionate about working with individuals so that they can identify, feel, and express a wide range of emotional experiences.

Stephen Brown, MSW, RSW

Stephen brings decades of experience, in the field of mental health and psychotherapy, to his therapeutic and counselling practice. Prior to Stephen’s private practice at ClearHeart, his role within the medical community of mental health treatment at Vancouver Coastal Health entailed the provision of individual, group, and psycho-educational facilitations. Stephen places a high value on the therapeutic relationship as an open, nonjudgmental, supportive space in which practical solutions are sought and found. Drawing from a multitude of therapeutic traditions, he offers both Couples therapy and Individual counselling at ClearHeart.

Therapeutic Approach

Emotionally focused communication with Conscious Relationship building, based on the Hendricks Institute model, is Stephen’s main approach in his work with couples. Developing the communication tools to understand and resolve relationship blocks allows us to reconnect with what matters most in life. Learning to move beyond relationship gridlock allows you to get your life and love back on track.

Through a process called Effective Inquiry, Stephen’s approach draws from a multitude of therapeutic traditions. Cognitive Behavioral therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral therapy (DBT), Somatic approaches that incorporate Mindfulness with breath work to regulate mood and emotion, EMDR, and Clinical Hypnosis name but a few of the therapeutic approaches that inform his practice.  Years of training and practice provide the foundation for Stephen’s intuitive grasp of the habits that no longer serve a useful purpose and how to make effective changes.
